This week we watched the Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom) documentary “Won’t You Be My Neighbor”

Beth’s Review – “This was a documentary about Fred Rogers focusing mostly on his Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.  Like many people, I watched Mister Roger’s Neighborhood and had nostalgia watching this movie.  I wish that it would have gone a little deeper into the show and into Fred Roger’s childhood and personal life.  I found the part about the Congressional hearing for PBS funding to be extremely interesting.  7 out of 10.”

Brent’s Review – “This movie felt a bit opportunistic in its timing.  The film mentions that Fred Rogers was a lifelong republican, but the only politician I saw him sitting with in the movie was Hilary Clinton.  While I agree that the message of Mr. Rogers (be kind to each other, everybody is special) is a good one, I couldn’t help but feel that the filmmakers were trying to capitalize on this Trump era hysterics to sell their movie.  Besides that, I really liked Fred Rogers and enjoyed watching the old footage and interviews.  8 out of 10.”

Our boys really love music so we decided to take them to some concerts this weekend.  We started taking them to the Foellinger Theatre to see Modest Mouse.  The boys were excited and interested to watch the opening act Termination Dust.  Cliff even danced to the music.  However, the opening act did not start until 8, an hour after bedtime, and then there was an unexpected 45 minute wait until Modest Mouse went on.  At that point we only made it through 3 Modest Mouse songs before our boys were ready for bed.

This weekend we also took the boys to see The Hubie Ashcraft Band with Beth’s parents.  Both boys loved it and danced the entire two hour show.  When the show was over Cliff did not want to leave and Dean made us take him back to the dance floor to prove the show was over.

In our jammed packed weekend we also took the boys to the Fire Safety day at our local fire department.  As you can see below, Cliff was very excited and wore his entire firefighter outfit.  We we able to see all the different vehicles, get pictures as fire fighters, and even get the boys their own id cards.

After hanging out with firefighters we decided to go hangout with some superheroes at Fantastic Con.  As always both boys were quick to spot Spider-man and anxiously wanted to go say hello to him.  Although our local convention is much smaller than the conventions we normally go to we had a fun afternoon with the boys.  We were disappointed that the only artist was Michael Golden, but being small made it easier to get him on our jam piece.  We even got to pick up one more of the X-men comics we needed which put us down to only needing single digits to complete the massive series.

You guys are probably wondering how we could possibly have done anything else this weekend, but we were also able to attend a Surprise 90th Birthday Party for Brent’s Grandma Dorothy.  This was the second party in two weeks for Grandma Dorothy, but celebrating a 90th birthday is a big deal so we were happy to be part of it again this weekend.
